Welcome to Bent 9 Hot Yoga, Barre & Fitness
A women-owned mind and body exercise studio in the heart of the Vine Neighborhood in Kalamazoo
Started in April of 2015 as a hot yoga studio in downtown Kalamazoo, Bent 9 moved into an all-new Vine Neighborhood facility in December 2019, complete with three class spaces, private restrooms and changing areas, and a curated clothing shop. We offer a range of classes, from yoga to barre and cycling, ensuring there’s something for everyone—whether you’re just beginning your fitness journey or looking to deepen your practice.
We believe that movement is for everybody.
We intentionally reject intimidating gym culture. Instead, we foster a welcoming, inclusive, and chill environment where you can wear what you want, be yourself, and focus on building strength, boosting energy, or healing mind, body, and soul. We are not on a quest for perfection through yoga—just balance, that’s why we embrace a “take what serves you, leave what doesn’t” philosophy.
We’ve created a cozy, comfortable, and convenient studio where you can feel empowered through the communal energy of our group fitness classes (because pushing it to your edge is easier when you’ve got others standing next to you), no matter your experience level or fitness background.
In our B9 studio, feel free to just be ...
Be present
Give yourself time to settle in by arriving at least 10-15 minutes before the start of class. Outside doors will be locked at the start of class time. Unplug and leave your phone and other personal belongings off the mat, safely stored in a cubby.
Be positive
Always come with an open mind, ready to try something new. We love having a wide range of experience and fitness levels in each class, so remember that no two individuals will look the same in their practice. This is a safe space for everyone!
Be comfortable
There is no dress code at Bent 9. We always encourage you to wear what makes you feel most comfortable and confident. Take into account that you will be sweating, and we recommend something that won't restrict your movement.
Be safe
Always listen to what feels good for your body. We encourage you to find a place of balance: push yourself to your edge, but take each class at your own pace, one breath at a time.
Be courteous
There are coat hooks and cubbies for personal items in the lobby. Our bathrooms are single stall and provide enough space to change into your workout clothing. Once inside the fitness or hot room respect the practice and space of others by keeping your voice low and movement on your own mat space.
Be part of our community
We encourage you to make connections within the studio and share with us your passions! Tell us about what you’re doing in Kalamazoo!
